You Are

You are yearning -
You yearned to be let into my world.

You are warmth -
That's what you brought to my life.

You are love -
Something we made together.

You are distance -
Something you let happen to us.

You are pain -
That's what you cause me.

You are destruction -
You burst my bubble.

You are the past -
Of my future you robbed me.

You are hope -
Yet you give me none.

I was love -
Now I am regret.

Thief

Yesterday was another day -
You held my hand
You made me promises...

And then he came along,
He stole you away,
Thief! In the dead of night.

And you left me there
To face the cold, cheerless winter's dawn
My tears the only warmth against the bitter chill.

And my only company those empty words,
You left behind for me
While you squandered my future with a Thief.

The Elusive II

I thought I had found you,
That you were the maiden revealed
The maiden of my dreams.

Yet I left you
But I came back,
For you verses I do write.

But all in vain,
Only to realise
That you are not her,
The maiden still hidden,
The maiden of my dreams.

The Unfamiliar

Where have you gone, my baby?
I search you out in those naughty eyes
I try to feel you in her touch.

From her voice -
Your playful whisper is missing.
And in my bosom
My heart is bleeding.

Where are you my baby
Whom I hurt over and over again?
Please come back to me.

Why do you hide from me?
Please come back to me -
And take away this unfamiliarity...

Verses

As night intensifies,
Snuffs out the light within you;
As you shut your heavy, watery eyes,
Lay your troubled self to sleep -

I write a verse
To do battle with the night
That would restore your glowing light.

And when the dark night falls again,
Threatens to snuff out the light,
Just lay yourself down to sleep, my baby,
And verses shall I write.

I Wait...

Here I wait for you,
On a cold gray morning.

Here I wait for you -
Pretend to be content
As I feel the rain falling.

But I cry with the rain, while,
Here I wait for you.

But will you come,
Hold me close
And chase my demons away
So that I need pretend no more?

Here I wait for you...

Brothers In The Name of Christ

Many centuries earlier,
In dangerous times -
Nine brave warriors formed a band
To protect pilgrims in the Holy Land;
And in the name of Christ they bore
A Red Cross
On their mantles white.

Clad in mail,
They drove away
Elements of decay from the Holy Land -
Until from nine
To a thousand they grew,
Hand in hand with a power new;
A power bestowed upon them
By a secret truth.

They renounced their property, land and homes -
To the thousand gave the lone.
Like to brothers
They fought shoulder to shoulder,
Unto their death,
Holding fast the Holy Land
Until at last
To the Saracens it fell.

And then to the Languedoc
They made their way
Over an entire continent they held sway;
Until they fell
To the wrath and greed of a humiliated king
And the Papacy, which was his puppet,
Against them charges of heresy framed.

And thus came the end for those,
Who in the name of Christ bore
A Red Cross on their mantles white -
The Poor Fellow Soldiers of Christ and the Temple of Solomon.

Getting Home

When you feel lost and cold
Just reach out for me,
For I am right there with you,
Though in the darkness you may not see me -

Reach out for me,
Reach out for me.

Together we will walk -
Not ahead, not behind -
Through forest and wood,
Through life and reality,
The same through night and bright day -

I won't run away,
I won't run away.

And should the guardian stars fade
And should you feel weary and scared,
I will wrap my arms around you
And carry you through chill and snow, through fog and rain -

Until we find Home,
Until we find Home.

Lonely December

You came to me in my life's winter,
A warm wind
To melt the snows of my pain.
I welcomed the warmth,
But my December heart
Drove you away from me.

Again I grew cold,
Again you came
Again my wintery heart
It drove you away.

But this time it kept the Warmth.

And gradually the winter passed
Until when you came next
In my heart summer was in bloom.

But my heart would not let it go -
A more fuller, brighter summer it yearned for;
Until my summer heart
It drove you away.

And now you are gone
And the summer with you,
And a cold wind now blows,
And it bears on it only pain.
